What is MACD?
The gap between a fast and a slow moving average; its signal line smooths that gap again.
MACD subtracts the 26-period exponential moving average from the 12-period one. When the MACD line crosses its own 9-period signal line, the short-term trend is changing relative to the longer one.
Crosses lag by construction. They are useful as a description of momentum shifting, not as a precise entry.
How our model uses it
The MACD line, its signal and days since the last cross are features for the direction model.
