On-chain

What is Confirmation?

A block added on top of the one containing your transaction, increasing finality.

One confirmation means the transaction is in a block. More confirmations make reverting it more expensive, so exchanges wait for several before crediting deposits.

The number that counts depends on the chain's finality rules and on how much you trust the counterparty.

  • BlockOn-chain

A batch of transactions appended to the chain, with a header that links it backwards.

  • A site that shows the raw contents of a chain: transactions, addresses and contracts.
