What is Layer 2?
A network that executes transactions cheaply and settles them on a layer 1.
Rollups bundle thousands of transactions and post a compressed proof of them to Ethereum, cutting cost per transaction by orders of magnitude.
Security comes from the base chain, but sequencing and bridges add trust assumptions that a base chain does not have.
