What is Airdrop?

Free tokens distributed to wallets, usually to reward past use or to bootstrap a protocol.

Airdrops reward behaviour: using a bridge, holding a token, voting. They also create a supply event the day they unlock, as recipients sell.

Some 'airdrops' are phishing: the page asks you to sign a transaction that drains the wallet instead.

  • PhishingSecurity

Fake sites and messages that imitate a real service to capture keys or approvals.

  • Permission you grant a contract to move a token of yours, sometimes without a limit.

  • A token that grants voting rights over a protocol's parameters and treasury.
